Necessary grew up in Wilkesboro NC, graduating from Wilkes Central HS in 1999. She graduated from Appalachian in 2003, got a Masters in NC State in 2007. She interned in Edinburgh, Scotland, for a summer for Keppie, and later for Gomes.Staub and Vernacular with Chad Parker / Brett Hautop. From 2011-2017 she taught undergraduate architecture studios at NC State. She worked for Cannon Architects, then Vines Architecture, then went on her own in 2015 to form Necessary Design.
