One of the most spectacular Modernist
houses in North Carolina, the award-winning 2004 Strickland-Ferris House
is in the heart of the
Laurel Ridge area near Crabtree Valley, a neighborhood full of
innovative Modernist homes. With glass that is 27 feet
tall at its highest point, the Strickland-Ferris House was designed by architect
Frank Harmon.
Widely published, the
house won a 2005 AIA NC Merit Award, a
2006 AIA Triangle Honor Award, and a 2009 Custom Home Magazine
Gold Award, among other honors.
At only 1830 square feet, it has been featured in Houzz, ArchDaily,
Architectural Record, Builder, and many more.

North America. How The Evening Works You'll explore the house and experience a
blind taste tasting with six wines ranging from $5 to $50. Your
challenge: correctly identify each wine's price point.
Those who get the most wine prices correct qualify for a drawing
for exciting prizes including featured wine, USModernist Mod Squad
Memberships, and charming NCModernist bath towels. Really like
something? You can order most of the wines on the spot or get
helpful information to find them.

members. The event runs rain or
shine. Light appetizers will be provided.
Proceeds benefit the documentation, preservation, and promotion
work of NCModernist, a 501C3 nonprofit educational archive for
Modernist houses.
The Fine Print
Tickets are not mailed; your name will be on a list at event registration.
21 and over only.
Once payment is made, there are no refunds for any reason except
event cancellation.
However, you can transfer tickets to others - just have them ask for the tickets in your name at registration.
There is no parking
at the house or on adjacent streets. Please arrive early
and park in the Iron Academy parking lot shown below at
the intersection of Laurel Hills Road and Edwards Mill Road -
look for the orange cones - and take our free shuttle.
Please do not attend if you are experiencing COVID symptoms
or have tested positive within a week of the tour. Participants must sign a liability waiver before entering. Participants are welcome to take photos inside and outside.
No outside food or drink; no vaping or tobacco
products anywhere onsite.
