(1947–2025)

Johnson was born in Wilmington NC and the family moved to Asheville in 1950. After graduating from Lee H. Edwards High School in 1965, he attended Clemson University for Bachelor of Architecture degree in 1970. He started his own firm in 1974 and represented the South Atlantic Region on the AIA National Board of Directors from 1996 to 1998, was AIANC's President in 1992, won AIANC's Deitrick Service Medal in 1997, and won the AIA Richard Upjohn Fellowship in 1998.
